A Sunday Word From Alex The Beat Machine
September 29, 2008
This week was awesome! That is the first thing I want to say. I had a blast joining in worship this past sunday. The Drums were loud and we started that 830 party with a bang!!! Saturday night setup was awesome too. We have shifts now!! lol I go in as soon as pier 2 movie ends and i have my list of duties that ususally takes about 30 minutes which is really not that much. Then zech comes in and does the same. We both go in with a helper and make this setup thing go by fast! We are still looking to recruit 2 more people who can give us 30 minutes of there help on saturday night setup. Hit me up if you want to help out! 30 minutes to help with setup and be apart of one of the most crucial teams at LPC is priceless, Gods reward is greater than mans! This is not for us, This this is for the people! Ok now Sunday morning before the first service I really felt a peaceful vibe throughout the theatre it kind of felt as if we all got together that morning to pray together. I remember being on tour with Salvador and right before hitting the stage the guys would gather around and we would pray, once we hit the stage we had this chemistry and I think I felt that same chemistry yesterday. Hopefully soon we can do this together as a team before our first service starts! Set-up is tons of fun especially in the morning, as I looked around the theatre I was happy to see everyone just moving around and working. We all add a piece to the puzzle, we have something very vital that we add in to the mix here at LPC. I think that is awesome!!! My service this week was the 2nd service that is the one i sat in. (When Travis talked about his dog I thought of mine, Rocky. he is going blind but he is still happy, he loves to play and is not sick anymore, I wish it would be cheaper to fix his eye but he is happy so I guess that makes me happy too, hopefully I won’t have to put him down!) OK back the services: I kinda want to sit in the first next week and then maybe the 3rd the following keep a steady flow going not just get stuck in one service or the same routine. I also like being around the new faces at LPC. The 3rd service was good though we did slack in the end as we dismissed, Jesse’s guitar was unplugged by Zechs foot. The people laughed and it felt like being at home with the family, it was no big deal to them. There was this lady in the 3rd service as we started to sing U2 I saw her face light up when we started to sing it, and she sang along, I thought that was really fun to see. I expect next week to be better than the this week on the technical side of things, I also want to try something new with the lighting and one of the screens we have, i promise to make it a surprise. Look out next week for The Cures scary Occtober production! Until next Sunday!! Hey I’ll never lose faith in these guys, Go Bears!!! and also I went 10 for 13 with my NFL picks this week. Not bad for my first week.
I got baptized yesterday!! I had been baptized twice before but never here in Miami, and it was awesome I’m glad I decided to jump in right in the moment. And I’m glad I was able to share with everyone here at LPC, There is a season up ahead that we need to get ready for now, doors are being open and we need to take care of business!! Hanging at the park was a ton of fun, I just wish the sun was out some more, the food was great the conversations were great, now its time to get ready for the fall, time to hit the books. My challenge is “The Forgotten Ways” by Allen Hirsch. That is my book for now, What is yours?

Chaos!! Panic, Hurry, and the final details. I hate days when things start going wrong before you move one finger. Today felt a bit rushed for me from the logistical side. First service was a go *830am the show must go on!!! Today was also youth service, we had the 9:45am slot and we had about 28 students. 8 of those 28 were new which was awesome. The thing I noticed was that there were youth in the 830am service and the 11 am service that were not in the 945 service. What do to? Get the word out better!! I will be getting together with travis to learn constant contact. We had some projector difficulties during our service which was a bummer but we pulled it off. We had some new people singing in worship with us which was really dope! We also showed the video we recorded this past week, which was really motivating to see. The message today was about being a revolutionary in your own home, school, etc… Wherever you go you have the chance to impact someone. You don’t need a platform or a stage to be a revolutionary for Christ! 3 young kids gave there lives at youth service! This is what this is about! People making the decision to change and search for the real Christ Jesus, the real revolutionary!! I did get to sit in the 3rd service. I think this message was good. I think back at the many times I felt as if i was on the rooftop trying to talk to God! The Dip is not a sweet place and we all hate it but knowing that patience is what will carry us through. Patience is hard, especially when you think God is just being mean to you by not giving you what you want. Worship was good, we were missing some singers and musicians but overall it sounded great. What else? Go Bears, I still believe they’ll make it to the Super Bowl.

Where Were You One Year Ago?
September 16, 2008

It is so crazy sometimes when you catch yourself thinking back. This time last year what were you doing? How far have you come from then until now? This was me last year: Touring with Salvador on the weekends then usually back home Monday Thru Wednesday. Now I look where I am at and I can honestly say I never thought I would be in a place like this. In an environment where true ministry is serving those around you, and not just signing a CD for someone because they saw you on stage playing and instrument or because you are in a band. As TSP ( My Band) gets ready to hit the studio in December I want to keep this project missional and not something that will bring fame and fortune, I think all of that hype is over rated! God is going to do some amazing things with this project It will be a fresh new season. The anticipation kills me though, but God is totally teaching me how to be patient. So ask yourself where were you a year ago?

Well the mood this morning was anticipation for me. I kept thinking to myself ok, What can go wrong? I think about the worse situation and get myself prepared for it just in case it happens. Soundcheck was awesome this morning. I think that changed my worried mood a bit. I played drums first service, and as I saw people walk in my heart was at ease. we played through the first set and i had a blast. especially on the electric drums. You can do so much with that “machine,” still does not beat a real drum set!!! But any who the first service went o.k. We had trouble with the pro presenter, it froze and had to restart right before the first service, we got through it though., and it so happens that right after worship we couldn’t get The Cure missions video to play or the intro video for travis. So there it was our first worry. Kind of. We are pretty calm though when things like this happen. Our Life Pointe people understand what is up. We are a family so we got over that fast, once second service rolled around I sat out on drums and joined for worship. I felt like Ritz’s drum coach. As he was playing I was air playing my drums with my fake sticks in my hands trying to keep him on beat. We did have a small slip with worship but no one noticed. I took a walk to lobby after worship and it was alive, just to see everyone talking and smiling seeing new faces made my Sunday. I talked with Christian a bit on some sports and totally disagreed on some things. the Bears are going to the Super Bowl this year but everyone thinks I am crazy, but mark my words! Oh i forgot to mention I had a pastelillo before first service! Ha. Good Stuff. Third service came a long it was a breeze, I sat in the second service for Trav’s message and I can totally relate to Habakkuk, at this point in my life, but it makes me feel good to know I am not alone in this world and some questions I may have for God. Once the last service was over the break down team came in and knocked everything out in like 20 minutes. It was good to see our theatre nice and neat at the end of the 3 service chaos. This was awesome we had some difficulties that we need to tighten up, but the next goal for me is to get rid of the pipe and drape and fill those seats up for all 3 services forcing us to do something new. I can’t wait, these are the days that will change our lives forever! If God told homestead what he was about to do, they wouldn’t believe it! Until Next Sunday These Are The Sunday Words From The Beat Machine!
See You Next Week.
So… These past 3 days.
